Description
We are at a crossroads in our country about how we treat each other. The tensions and conflicts adults feel and experience is played out daily in the Media and on a running loop on social media. The visceral images we see and the intensity of emotions spill into our classrooms. It affects our children and our families. It is impossible NOT to have this impact the daily life in our classrooms.
This virtual series will engage participants in discussions about race, racism, equity, and social justice. Participants will partake on a journey of self-reflection about their own beliefs and the experiences that shaped them. Participants will explore race, racism, equity, and social justice from a historical perspective and apply that understanding to current events. At the end of the series, participants will have specific strategies in the classroom and in life to promote equity and social justice for all. Core of Knowledge hours: 5 PROF, 7 COM (12 hours total)
**This course also contains an offline/ asynchronous learning component which includes additional assignments.
Participants must attend all synchronous virtual sessions AND complete required assignments. Sessions meet from 7 – 8:30 PM virtually on the following dates:
